African Center for Disaster Risk Management  

The Center for Disaster Risk Management (CDRM) is established to respond to capacity building needs on disaster risk management in Ethiopia as well as other countries of Africa.  The Center is a product of a consultative fact finding mission initiated by Disaster Risk Management and Food Security Sector (DRMFSS) in conformity with Disaster Risk Management Policy, Disaster Risk Management Strategic Program and Investment Framework of Ethiopia. 

World Vision

World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to working with children, families, and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice. We work in nearly 100 countries, serving all people, regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, or gender. We believe in a full solution to poverty and injustice. We provide emergency assistance to children and families affected by disasters and conflict, partner with communities for long-term solutions to alleviate poverty, and advocate for justice on behalf of the poor.


Stichting (foundation) Cordaid is one of the largest development aid organizations in the Netherlands. We work closely with a network of 617 partner organizations in 38 countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America as well as providing help to disadvantaged groups in the Netherlands itself. We are proud co-founders of Caritas Internationalis, which brings an additional worldwide network of over 160 organizations; we are able to organize responses to disasters even more rapidly in countries where Caritas in represented. Our local presence in a particular country often results from the fact that our Caritas partners are usually found in fragile and (post-) conflict areas. 

Globalisation Studies Groningen

Globalisation Studies Groningen (GSG) is an inter-faculty and interdisciplinary institute that spans the entire University of Groningen. It connects academic work of research groups and individuals issues relating to globalisation, development and humanitarianism. GSG also acts as the General Secretariat of the International Humanitarian Studies Association (IHSA).


Addis Abeba University

Addis Ababa University (AAU), which was established in 1950 as the University College of Addis Ababa (UCAA), is the oldest and the largest higher learning and research institution in Ethiopia. Since its inception, the University has been the leading center in teaching-learning, research and community services.

Bahir Dar University

Bahir Dar University a university in the city of Bahir Dar, the capital of the Amhara National Regional State in Ethiopia. The University is a combination of two smaller institutes formed earlier, after the departments were gradually raised to a degree level starting from 1996.
